Client: Banking Trade Desk
Job: Create in-house software for bankers who trade in fiat and crypto currencies.
Result: Immediate adoption of platform, no training needed. Fastest trading protocol in the world.
This international bank hired us to create in-house software. This software was meant to replace ‘trade desk’ software that is in use by most investment banks. Our client wanted a faster, more secure, and more diverse platform that included crypto trading as well as fiat currency trading.
Our first step was to study the market. Four researchers spent two weeks sourcing every sort of trading software under the sun, creating a feature-set list that would guide our work with this particular bank.
We then studied our users. There were less than 20 traders at this particular office in NYC, and we sat behind them for two days; we observed their work processes with their legacy software, how they were concerned over crypto trades (the SEC was often on-site), and how they ensured they met all regulatory and in-house protocols in. It turned out they needed only a fraction of the features offered by their current software solution.
We spent day three talking to these users, validating their processes and finalizing our requirement-document for our initial designs. We ended up with less than one-third of the features of their bloated legacy solution, so we were excited to get to work on how to present these features in a fast-paced environment that demanded no mistakes. Advanced UX protocols were put in place to illustrate tasks (in forms/fields) and graphically help the traders see how trades progressed.
The software was built by this bank’s in-house team. Rebel spent several days with these engineers showing them our research-data and backing up our claims that simplicity was the key to speed. The software was ready for rollout in less than a month. The result is the fastest software trading platform on the market that handles both fiat and crypto currencies (trade-to, trade-from, purchases, etc.). Our client plans to white-label the technology for use by partner banks to put the entire industry on a better, faster platform.
